Update August 19 2025: My fiance tells me that this is more of a Cinnamon Toast Crunch shaken espresso than a Horchata one - so maybe I named it incorrectly!

This is a bit different from some of my other short updates, but I figured I'd share it anyway.

I've been tinkering a bit with my go-to morning beverage, for a long while it was a hot (or iced) latte (at least since I met my fiance who got me really into lattes), fortunately enough we have a decent brevil espresso machine at home so its been pretty easy to make our own coffee.

As of late though I've been cutting back a bit on my whole milk intake (I think the common joke is that lattes are more of a milk beverage than a coffee beverage), and I've also been drinking more and more Core Power protein shakes (if you haven't tried one before, they're amazing - stop reading this now and go try one!)

What I've now started doing is making a "Horchata Protein Latte", which is a bit like a shaken espresso latte, but with Core Power (the vanilla 26g of protein variety) instead of traditional milk.

The recipe (if you can call it that):

Ingredients:

  • Cinnamon
  • Vanilla Core Power
  • Espresso
  • Ice

Recipe:

Take some kind of sealable container (I'm using a new weck jar), add in a bit of ground cinnamon. Pour your shot of espresso into the container, and then add ice and a splash (or as much as you like) of the Core Power. Finally seal the container and then shake for about 30 seconds or so.

That's it! It tastes a bit like Horchata (thanks to the vanilla and cinnamon), and also has some pretty good macros (26g of protein, only 6g of carbs) and tastes amazing!

Being Unopinionated

It's fine for a library to express some opinions about how it should be adopted and how the overall workflow/application in which it is adopted should function. However, it's false advertising to say that it is unopinionated.

No I don't mean those Milano cookies you keep taking from the office snack wall either (although you should probably stop snacking on those as often as well).

Low/no process workflow wasn't actually no process, it was only an "invisible" process. An implicit contract with everyone on the team to do that async workflow on their own time.
